Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her role on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter during her early years, but began modeling in high school and eventually gaining commercials following her move from New York. When she was a teenager the first time she appeared as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of films, television movies and dramatics since then. Her professional career has been much more lucrative than her personal life. The talented actress was afflicted with addiction issues in the past and had two divorces. In 2005, she lost custody of the only child that she had.
