Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional name Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team in the following year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she recorded together with Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. She released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was released on September 5th. Her second single Grampa on November 9. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within its first seven days. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
